Autumn in Norway

Visiting Norway This Autumn?

A quick packing guide — layers, rain, footwear and what actually helps.

Clothing

Dress in layers, not outfits

A moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating mid-layer (wool or fleece), and a windproof shell. Add or remove layers as the day changes — because in Norway, it will.

Rain protection

Rain is a default, not an exception

Especially on the west coast. Skip the umbrella and pack a proper waterproof jacket with a hood — and waterproof pants for longer hikes.

Footwear

Waterproof footwear with grip

Comfortable waterproof walking shoes or light hiking boots. In icy conditions, add traction cleats for safer walking.
